Power supply for charging in the Tokaido Shinkansen

Not every seat in the Tokaido Shinkansen has Power supplies. It depends on your seat and the type of train you get on.

If you really need an outlet, get a seat by the windows. The seat by the windows are seat “A” and seat “E”.

Power supplies on Shinkansen

New types of the Tokaido Shinkansen has power supplies in each seat. Old types has only in few seats.

There is always a power outlet at the window seat. The window seats are seat “A” and seat “E”. If you are on the Green-Car, then the seat is “A” and “D”.

The power supplies AC100V,2A,60Hz.You can use the power supply for charging smart phones or your PC and so. Cannot use anything that consumes a large amount of electricity.

Series N700s

This is the newest type and every seat has a power supply.

You can find the outlet on your armrest.

Series N700

Series N700 is the old type train. Only has power supplies by the window seats.

Seats by the windows are seat “A” and seat “E”.

You can find the power supply by your feet.

You can search which type your train is.Access Jourdan. Mostly Japanese use these sites to find out which train to take.

You can know the train type if it is Series N700s or N700.
